How to cancel YNAB

To cancel YNAB, open the YNAB web app, click your plan name at the top of the left sidebar, choose Account Settings and click Cancel Subscription. If you subscribed in the iPhone or Android app, cancel through Apple or Google Play instead. The YNAB mobile app does not show billing settings.

First, find out where you pay

YNAB bills you in one of three places. Check your receipts or card statement before you start.

You subscribed throughWhere to cancel
YNAB directly (ynab.com)YNAB web app, Account Settings
Apple App Store (iPhone or iPad)Apple subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad
Google Play (Android)Google Play subscriptions

Cancel a direct YNAB subscription (web)

  1. Sign in at app.ynab.com.
  2. Click the name of your plan at the top of the left sidebar.
  3. Select Account Settings.
  4. Scroll down and click Cancel Subscription, then confirm.

Only have a phone? Paste https://app.ynab.com/settings into your mobile browser to reach Account Settings. You can also email help@ynab.com from the address on your YNAB account and ask them to cancel it.

Cancel YNAB on iPhone or iPad

YNAB says App Store subscriptions are managed by Apple. In the YNAB app, go to Settings, then Manage Subscription, or open your Apple subscriptions in iPhone Settings and cancel YNAB there.

Cancel YNAB on Android

Open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Pick YNAB and cancel.

Cancel a YNAB free trial

YNAB's trial is 34 days. If you signed up directly, YNAB does not ask for payment details, so there is usually nothing to cancel. You can let it expire. If you chose to subscribe during the trial, cancel that upcoming subscription so you are not charged. App store trials may need a card, so cancel those through Apple or Google Play.

What happens after you cancel

  • You keep access until the end of your current billing period, and you can resume before then.
  • Your data is not deleted when you cancel. YNAB deletes it later under its Data Retention Policy.
  • To delete your account now, go to Account Settings and click Delete Account near the bottom.

Can you get a YNAB refund?

YNAB's terms say monthly subscription fees are non refundable and it does not give retroactive refunds or extensions. If you paid through Apple or Google Play, their refund terms apply. Users in the UK, Switzerland or EEA may have a 14 day cooling off period.

What YNAB costs, for reference

$14.99 USD a month, or $109 USD a year, plus tax where applicable. Checked on YNAB's pricing page November 2, 2026. Prices can change.

Check the charge really stopped

After you cancel, look at your next statement for a YNAB charge. Subscriptions you thought were gone are one of the most common money leaks, along with bank fees you never agreed to. Expense Canary connects your US and Canadian banks read only through Plaid and flags forgotten subscriptions, hidden fees and unusual charges across all your accounts.

FAQ

Quick questions

Why pay for a subscription to find subscriptions?
Fair question. Expense Canary watches all your banks for the stuff that's easy to miss, like new bank fees, forgotten subscriptions that are still charging, and unusual or duplicate charges. You hear about them the same day instead of months later. 7-day free Premium, then $4.99 USD/month. Cancel anytime in the App Store or Google Play.
Can't I just log in to each bank and check?
You can. The catch is remembering to do it, and spotting a small fee buried in a statement. Expense Canary checks for you, across all your banks in one place.
