Expense Canary Guides
How to cancel Copilot Money
You can cancel Copilot Money yourself. How you do it depends on where you started your subscription. Copilot sells it two ways: through Apple (the iPhone, iPad, or Mac App Store app) or directly through Copilot on the web app or the Mac app downloaded from its website.
Copilot says to cancel on the same device you subscribed on. If you use more than one Apple ID, use the device signed in to the Apple ID that pays for Copilot.
Not sure which one you have? Look at the charge on your card or bank statement. An Apple line means you cancel through Apple. A Copilot line means you subscribed directly and cancel in Copilot's settings.
Cancel Copilot Money on iPhone or iPad (Apple billing)
Steps from Copilot's help centre (checked October 29, 2026):
From inside the Copilot app
- Open Copilot and go to Settings.
- Tap Subscription.
- Tap Manage your subscription.
- Tap Manage in the App Store and finish the cancellation there.
From your iPhone or iPad settings
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Copilot.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, then confirm.
Cancel Copilot Money on a Mac
If you got the Mac app from the Mac App Store (Apple billing)
- Open Copilot and go to Settings.
- Click Subscription, then Manage your subscription.
- Click Manage in the App Store and cancel there.
You can also open the App Store app, click your name in the lower left, click Account Settings, then click Manage next to Subscriptions. Pick Copilot and cancel.
If you got the Mac app from Copilot's website (direct billing)
- Open Copilot and go to Settings.
- Click Subscription.
- Click Manage your subscription and cancel.
Cancel Copilot Money on the web (direct billing)
If you subscribed in Copilot's web app, you pay Copilot directly. Open Copilot's Settings, choose Subscription, then Manage your subscription. Copilot says this is where you change your plan, update your payment method, or cancel.
Cancel during the free trial
Copilot's FAQ says new users get a 1 month free trial. Its Quick Start Guide says the trial renews into a paid plan automatically. You can turn off auto renewal any time after setup in Settings, Subscription, Manage your subscription. Do it before the trial ends if you do not want to be charged.
Is there a Copilot Money Android app to cancel?
No. Copilot's FAQ lists iPhone, iPad, Mac, and web only. If you see a Copilot charge from Google Play, it is not Copilot Money. Check the merchant name.
Canada
Copilot's FAQ says it works with US based accounts only. If you are in Canada and still pay for Copilot through Apple, the Apple cancel steps above are the same.
What happens after you cancel
From Copilot's help centre:
- Canceling turns off auto renewal. You are not charged again.
- You keep using Copilot until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Canceling does not delete your account or your data.
Canceling vs deleting your Copilot account
Copilot treats these as two separate steps. Cancel first so you are not charged again.
- Apple billing: deleting your Copilot account does not stop the Apple subscription. You still have to cancel through Apple.
- Direct billing: Copilot says deleting your account cancels a direct subscription automatically.
To delete, Copilot says to go to Settings, Account, Delete your Copilot account, type "delete account", and confirm. This disconnects your banks and deletes your budgets and data. It cannot be undone.
If you forwarded Venmo emails to Copilot, Copilot says to turn that forwarding off in your email account too.
Refunds
- Apple billing: Copilot says Apple handles these payments, so request a refund from Apple.
- Direct billing: Copilot's Terms say a subscription is nonrefundable except in one case. If you bought directly from Copilot, cancel within one month of your first purchase, and email support@copilot.money within five days of canceling, Copilot says it will give a full refund for that subscription.
Copilot Money pricing (so you know what you are canceling)
Copilot's pricing page (checked October 29, 2026) shows one plan with two billing options. Monthly is $18 a month. Yearly is listed as a limited time offer at $109 billed yearly, instead of $119. Copilot's Terms say fees are in US dollars. Copilot also says some long time subscribers keep older legacy pricing, so your bill may be different. Check your own plan in Settings before you cancel.
After you cancel: keep watching for money leaks
Canceling a budgeting app does not stop subscriptions from renewing or banks from charging fees. You just stop seeing them in one place.
Expense Canary is a narrower tool. It links US and Canadian banks read only through Plaid and looks for money leaks you may not know about: forgotten subscriptions still charging, hidden bank fees across accounts, and unusual or duplicate charges. It is not a budget, and it does not cancel anything for you. It runs on iPhone and Android. Pricing: 7-day free Premium, then $4.99 USD/month.
Where Copilot is still the better choice
Keep Copilot if you want budgets, investment tracking, net worth, cash flow, and a Mac or web app in one place. Expense Canary does none of those.
Where Expense Canary fits after you cancel
- You stopped using budgets but still want to catch leaks.
- You want forgotten subscriptions, hidden fees, and unusual charges from every linked bank in one list.
- You use Android, or you bank in Canada.
- You are fine canceling merchants yourself once you see the list.
